Vietnamese snacks: dâu tây

16 May

Those candies are some kind of fruit confits (candied fruits) from Vietnam.

Here it is strawberry.

Due to the climate, strawberries can only be seen in a few places in Vietnam, for instance: Da Lat. Those candied fruits are a specialty from Da Lat and Vietnamese people are always asking their friends, colleagues or family to bring them some from their trips there.

The taste is not really awesome. There is some kind of salty taste in the middle that is ruining the whole stuff (and furthermore, the taste of strawberry).

I must admit I miss red fruits here and unfortunately, Vietnamese jam or Dâu Tây did not help me.

Nevertheless, it is something you have to try when you are travelling in Vietnam (you can find some candied fruits elsewhere in the country). The other Da Lat specialty is the artichoke’s infusions but I have not tried it.

For those who do not like strawberries, you can try candied pineapple or durian.
